The Government Diamond Office (GDO) in Monrovia contains two key sections in ensuring compliance with Kimberley Process rough diamond regulations:

The Database Unit

This unit is responsible to record and verify the various licenses issued (Miner, Broker and Dealer), to record license details and issue ID cards to the Liberian diamond industry participants. Furthermore the section records diamond mine production and sales, tracking diamonds from discovery to export ensuring the system of internal controls to eliminate the inclusion of conflict diamonds in all rough diamond exports is maintained.

The Valuation Unit

The valuation unit maintains responsibility for the collection of revenue by applying international values to diamond export parcels. It is responsible to maintain security of exports and transmit information on exports to the recipient member states and report Liberian exports to the KP statistical unit.
