Bureau of Lands and Surveys

The Bureau received about three (300) land cases and requests from the office of the Assistant Minister for Lands, Surveys and Cartography. Of the number of cases received, the Bureau has been able to resolve about seventy percent. There a number of cases the Bureau could not go into because the complainants have not shown up and left no contact numbers.

Prominent amongst the requests sent to the Bureau are:
The survey for the Prince of Saudi Arabia
The request from the Libyans for a take-over of Ducor Hotel
The survey of Camp Sheifflin land in Duazon
The survey of National Social Security land in Whein Town
The Market site at Omega
The survey at frog island, etc.
The Bureau has also been able to serve the UNMIL and the Liberian National Police in conducting surveys for police depots in four counties, namely, Bong, Bassa, Montserrado, Rivercess and Nimba. The Director of the Bureau was part of the restructuring exercise of the Department of Lands, Surveys and Cartography and helped to prepare the Bureau’s ACTION PLAN for 2006.

The Bureau has resumed the issuance of survey permits, which are a source of revenue. Since the resumption of the permit system three (3) months ago, the Bureau has generated one thousand three hundred and fifteen ($1,315.00USD) United States Dollars. This amount is far more than the figure projected in our matrix for revenue generation.
