Monrovia June 28, 2012 the Liberian Government has announced that it has succeeded in securing a consortium of donors that will amass about Two Hundred Million United States Dollars to be used for the complete rehabilitation of the Mount Coffee Hydro Plant by Christmas 2015.

This was disclosed by Lands, Mines and Energy Minister, Patrick Sendolo at his Capitol Hill office in Monrovia. Minister Sendolo disclosed that the governments of Norway and Germany have agreed to contribute US$70m and US$35m respectively through grants while the European Investment bank has agreed to contribute US$50m through what he called concessional loan.

Minister Sendolo said besides the three participating donor partners, the Liberian government itself has committed US$46m dollars. Already, the Program Implementation Unit setup at the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), is said to have completed the turbine design of the project and that by Christmas of 2015, the Mount Coffee hydro plant will be on line.
